Koh Samui nights are legendary, and so are the mornings after. A hangover on holiday hurts double: you are paying for a day you are spending face-down in a dark room. Here is what is actually happening in your body, and what genuinely helps.
Alcohol is a diuretic, so you wake up dehydrated. It irritates the stomach lining, hence the nausea. Its breakdown product acetaldehyde is toxic and drives the headache and malaise, and it wrecked your sleep quality on top. A hangover is several problems at once, which is why no single home trick fixes it.
Water and electrolyte drinks help, if you can keep them down. Plain food, shade and time all help. Coffee mostly relocates the problem. The famous fried breakfast is comfort, not chemistry.
A hangover IV drip attacks the mechanics directly: a litre of fluids and electrolytes for the dehydration, anti-nausea and headache support so you can function, and B vitamins your body burned processing the alcohol. Absorption is not an issue because nothing has to survive your stomach. Most guests are back on their feet within hours instead of writing off the day.
Nobody wants a taxi ride while hungover. The nurse comes to your hotel or villa, sets up quietly, and the session takes about an hour, curtains drawn if you prefer.
